THE owners of a much-loved Cairns Greek taverna are heading overseas and have put their business on the market.

Odyssey Kitchen opened in March 2016 on Shields St and quickly established itself as a cheerful and affordable restaurant offering mouth-watering Mediterranean fare.

It’s now up $150,000.

Finn Business Sales’ Pruthesh Patel said the dining area, with the ability to seat about 80 people inside and out, had “great ambience” and was in a high traffic area of the Cairns CBD.

“It is a very versatile area and could be suitable for many applications,” he said.

“Odyssey Kitchen serves sensational traditional Greek for sale for cuisine to their loyal customers. A social media presence with great positive reviews makes them a top choice for whoever relies on those platforms to choose a restaurant.

“There is a full liquor licence with bar facilities and the kitchen is open seven days for evening dining with three lunches in the high season and in summer, six days dining with one lunch service.

“The shop has been renovated in the last two years.

“A new front kitchen has been fitted featuring two charcoal canopies, brand new equipment for both the back and the front kitchen, stainless steel benchtop fridge, commercial grade oven, custom made charcoal BBQ and many other appliances.”

Owners Michail and Pepi Pallis are heading back to Greece and hope someone with as much passion for food and customers can take over the business.

There are currently four staff, two chefs and five casuals who work at the restaurant.

As well as providing restaurant meals, Odyssey Kitchen also caters to the customers of McGinty’s Pub next door.

“There is a private lease directly negotiable with the fantastic landlord in place so there are no body corporate fees or other property issues to be considered,” Mr Patel said.

“This location is favoured by many and varied food outlets which tends to make it a food hub. However, they are mainly restaurants and cafes catering to one specific cuisine. Odyssey Kitchen competes strongly with this wide selection of establishments.”
