Elle jumps on Goop bandwagon

-

SHE’S known for her superhealthy lifestyle and insanely youthful appearance.

So it’s no wonder Gwyneth Paltrow enlisted Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson (right) to speak at her Goop summit in New York.

Macpherson, 54, posed with the Goop founder and Demi Moore at the star-studded In Goop Health wellness event, where she spoke on a panel with media mogul Arianna Huffington and celebrity makeup artist Gucci Westman.

Macpherson was promoting WelleCo Super Elixir, her line of “alkalising greens” and supplements including a collagen booster, which she described as her secret to “clear, firm, hydrated skin”.

At the summit, Paltrow, 46, touched on some of the criticisms of Goop – her muchmocked modern lifestyle brand – which has been criticised for promoting expensive wellness and fashion products.

Even on the site today, Goop is flogging a $84 Glacce water bottle that has an amethyst crystal in it (described on goop.com as a “sleek glass bottle with a permanent crystal in the bottom”), along with a $2075 Victoria Beckham bag.

“Sometimes at Goop, we get pushback about our non-toxic products that we make and that we sell not being on par with the price points of drugstore products,” Paltrow said at the summit, according to Fortune.

Goop, which is expanding with a new Netflix docuseries this year, has been accused in the past of false claims and recently paid out civil penalties to resolve allegations relating to so-called “vagina eggs”.

Despite recommending nutritional supplements and various exercises and diets, Paltrow denies claims that Goop offers a gold star of approval.
