MEET THE CAST OF SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN
AUNAN LI
Aunan Li is taking a huge leap in his acting career by taking on his first lead role for
Singin’ In The Rain. The Year 12 student has performed before, but never as the leading man. Mr Li is playing Don Lockwood, a popular silent film star with roots in singing, dancing and stunt work. Lockwood is the central character of the performance. Outside of acting, 17-year-old Mr Li mostly focuses on his music studies.
ZOE PERTIWI
Senior student Zoe Pertiwi has taken on a challenging role as Lina Lamont. The 17year-old drama student has been a core member of Cairns State High School’s theatrical team, and has been a lead actor in almost every musical the school has held since she started studying there. Miss Pertiwi is part of the Centre of Excellence drama program.
SYDNEY SMITH
Year 12 student Sydney Smith is one of two actors taking on the role of Kathy Selden for the Cairns State High School production. The 17-year-old is a dance, drama and music student. Her teachers have praised her commitment to the arts, especially being part of every musical since starting her studies at Cairns State High. Miss Smith also pursues dance and music studies outside of school.
FINN GEORGE-NEWMAN
Year 9 student Finn George-Newman, playing Cosmo Brown, is no stranger to the limelight. Performing since he was six years old, the now 14-year-old has graced the stage for Cairns State High School before. He played the spirited lead boy Michael in
Mary Poppins in 2017. The actor is also part of The Young Company Theatre and is a lead performer in their musical Seussical.
