CAIRNS Councillor Brett Olds has urged Kewarra Beach residents to let police do their jobs, as the ongoing drama over a local dog park has taken another turn.

Sunbird Park has been at the centre of a row with chains, steel wire and superglue used to keep dogs out of the park.

Council temporarily closed the park after a pile of suspicious pellets were found near the entrance.

Kewarra Beach man Paul Innes, who previously made an assault allegation related to the ongoing drama, posted on the Cairns Northern Beaches Community group Facebook page that the dog park had been chained up again shortly after council reopened it. He said the lock and chain was only at one end of the park.

Councillor Olds said he was investigating the ongoing drama.

“I think it’s weird that they apparently only chained up the one gate – in the past they locked up all of them,” he said.

Cr Olds said the matter was under police investigation and he advised residents to stay out of it.

Mr Innes planned to organise a barbecue at the park to support YAPS on June 8. A NEW fast-food joint will sink its teeth into the Cairns market tomorrow, coinciding with International Burger Day.

The Lush Burger Co. at the Calypso Backpackers Hostel on Digger St, is run by the same company as Lush Pizza, on Sheridan St.

Head chef Tom Stewart said the idea behind both restaurants was to focus on producing good, cheap food to appeal to Cairns’ backpacker population.

“It’s always been our passion to make burgers, so we decided to go for it,” he said.

“We’re trying to be affordable;
