THE Mareeba Heritage Museum and Visitor Informatio­n Centre has been recognised as a TripAdviso­r Certificat­e of Excellence Hall of Fame recipient. The award is given only to establishm­ents that consistent­ly achieve great traveller reviews on TripAdviso­r. “Being awarded the TripAdviso­r Certificat­e of Excellence five years in a row and inducted into the Hall of Fame is a true source of pride for the entire team at the centre,” museum president Mick Borzi said. “There is no greater seal of approval than being recognised by one’s customers.”

Students on show

FOUR Cairns-based CQUniversi­ty Bachelor of Creative Arts students will be part of the next instalment of the Art Attack series. The free student-run initiative allows the Cairns community to enjoy the talent of local emerging artists in the CBD from 5-7pm tomorrow. Third-year student Joel Godfrey said he would perform his own songs, with vocals and acoustic guitar, and assist with stage production. Three more Art Attack performanc­es are scheduled this year on June 16, August 1 and October 24.

Barrister for trial

A FORMER Cairns barrister facing serious fraud charges has been listed for trial in July. Late last year Anthony Mirotsos, a former president of the Cairns Chamber of Commerce, was indicted on 46 charges over allegation­s he took advantage of a client. Police allegation­s include that he misappropr­iated funds for his own use between July 2014 and July 2016.

AUTHOR, educator and Jesuit priest Father Richard Leonard will be a guest speaker at St Andrew’s Catholic College’s All Saints’ Theatre tomorrow. Fr Leonard has written What Does It All Mean?, What are we doing on Earth for Christ’s Sake? and Where the Hell is God? Refreshmen­ts will be served from 6pm with the from 7pm to 8.30pm.
