On politics

-

The daily right-wing climate deniers pushing the same tiresome rhetoric, everyone’s out of step bar me. Business are voting with their feet and shying away from coal fired power. Britain and Europe virtually coal powered free now and US not far behind. China and India following. Morrison LNP betting each way in a two-horse race and no policy. Environmentalist, Cairns Former premier Campbell Newman appearing on Paul Murray Live on the Cairns Post’s cousin-brother TV channel Sky News on channel 83 said: “We’ve got to export 24kg of coal from Queensland to import 1kg of coffee beans for Melbourne.” Choke on that you inner-city latte-sipping delusionists. Higgs, Tolga ScoMo fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. Already he’s spruiking lefty themes like “women in cabinet” and “emissions reduction”. ScoMo doesn’t seem to realise he won the election and can safely ignore identity politics and the Gaia cult. Darryl, Aeroglen Northern Pride, inept both on field and leadership. Comments by coach shows a complete detachment from reality and the players’ lack of confidence reflects this. Peter Mead, Edge Hill Ha,ha, drop bears (CP, 27/05) are great for tormenting gullible types. My mate had an American lass convinced the roadside tree kangaroo signs between Atherton and Ravenshoe were actually drop bear warning signs and that the nighttime songs of the curlew birds were actually the drop bears’ hunting shrieks. Poor girl wouldn’t go out at night. Hilarious. Woz, Parramatta Park Hey Rashmi, Edmonton. Role model? Slitting the throat of a pig being held down by her dogs? Aren’t we brave? It may be wise if you raised your opinion of what a role model is. Irving, Atherton Grizzly bears are spreading into new areas in the US (CP, 27/05). All species seek to gain new habitat. Bats do it here. But bats aren’t smart enough to know they can’t survive low-elevation urban heat islands. It is the job of humans to direct them back to the cool mountain rainforests. Rashmi, Edmonton New burger joint plans opening with the lot. So tempting to eat burgers with chips on International Burger Day at the Lush Burger Co for cheap food to appeal to Cairns backpacker population. Janelle, Woree Gav, I agree. I would like to see intelligent, reasonable and informed discussion. I also agree that overpopulation is the greatest global challenge. However Australia’s greatest threat is weakening our economy. Socialist policies punishing work ethic and individual freedom, and driving industry and jobs offshore through stifling climate change policies and the unions. Look at Venezuela for what can happen in 20 years. Joanne, Mt Sheridan
