Rita Panahi, I totally agree that the whole education system, including primary and secondary schools, not just universities are being hijacked by the loony Left but how do the silent majority stop this insidious erosion? As you say, we are shut down every time we try and bring balance to the argument, all because we do not have the ear of the media as they themselves have been educated by the very system that gives them their degrees and leftist ideas. Beth, Kanimbla There is no need for Douglas Shire ratepayers (CP, 18/06) to pay for tree planting. Trees are self-replicating, selferecting CO2-absorbers. The more CO2 there is, the more trees grow and reproduce. CO2 is the basic food of life and it should be celebrated, not demonised. Rashmi, Edmonton Local councillors should have their pay docked for every item they cannot vote on due to conflicts of Interest. Mal, Woree There is a vocal demographic in our society who are backward thinking when it comes to social, environmental and crime prevention issues. They don’t represent the broader community in my view and nothing more than pushing a small-minded right-wing political agenda. Progressive, Cairns Well done to the best fleet manager of Cairns Taxis for raising all that money for the Cancer Council of Qld at Autobarn on Sunday. Well done mate. Terry Langton, Manunda Business leaders seek guarantees from Jackie Trad (CP, 18/06)? Tell them they’re dreaming. FNQ’s fair share is being used to buy votes in Brisbane seats. Both sides do it — it’s why we need a new NQ state. Peter, Whitfield The Assistant Commissioner beaten up at a Melbourne train station (CP, 18/06) was not a “trains boss”. He was a senior Victorian police officer whose portfolio includes the bomb squad, the dog squad, the air wing, and the critical incident response team. Maybe now they’ll admit Melbourne has a violent crime problem. Darryl, Aeroglen So Trump is behind in the polls, eh? (CP, 18/06). Just like 2016. Good. That means he’ll win again. One-tooth Wally, Kamerunga How deeply ironic that China should criticise foreigners (CP, 18/06) for “meddling” in Hong Kong’s affairs when they and their operative Maurice Strong gave us the climate hoax — the ultimate in damaging and divisive meddling. China laughs at us. A lot. Woz, Parramatta
