Trademark dispute for Cairns enterprise

AN Asian beverage shop set to open at the end of the month is in a trademark dispute with a Taiwanese franchise.

The Alley AU is slowly taking shape at 28 Abbott St in the city and a spokesman for the business said the staff were just waiting on final council approvals.

But it’s claimed the shop, which sells bubble tea, a drink made from sweet tea and tapiTHE third of Crystalbro­ok Collection’s major hotel projects for Cairns is moving to the next stage with the dismantlin­g of its tower crane. oca balls, bears a striking resemblanc­e to The Alley franchise which operates in Taiwan, Singapore, Sydney and Melbourne.

The brand uses the image of a male deer head with antlers and ingredient­s imported from Taiwan.

She said she knew of the famous two glass swimming pools, a day spa and more than 300 rooms and suites.

Crystalbro­ok’s first hotel, Riley, opened last December and the second, Bailey, is slated to open in October. Chinese brand but had a different name to that business.

Ms Yang also said images of deer were very popular in China and The Alley AU was a good name because the store was next to an Abbott St alley.
