Child sex case delay

THE case of a 74-year-old Innisfail resident accused of grooming children in the Philippine­s for sex acts has been adjourned to next year. Russell Lorback faces state and federal charges of procuring a child to engage in sexual activity outside Australia and possessing child exploitati­on material using an anonymisin­g service. The matter has been adjourned for mention in February 2020.

Firefighte­rs give talk

CAIRNS’ firefighte­rs have shared their safety knowledge with the community as part of a Women in Constructi­on event at their Manunda station. The event was held yesterday afternoon and focused on requiremen­ts around smoke detection systems, fire evacuation design, passive fire treatment and the importance of material and design compliance.

Tractor investigat­ion

POLICE are investigat­ing after a tractor was stolen, crashed into a power pole then had its fuel stolen at Mourilyan. The John Deere tractor and trailer was parked beside a field on the Bruce Hwy between Martyville and Corsi Rd on Sunday night when it was moved about 10m and crashed into a pole. About 60 litres of fuel was siphoned. Anyone with informatio­n or dashcam footage from the area between 6pm Sunday and 5am Monday is asked to contact police.
