Luxury units to hit the market
LUXURY apartments in one of Crystalbrook Collection’s new five-star resorts are about to hit the market.
The company’s outgoing chief executive, Mark Davie, spoke with the Cairns Post just a day before his departure was announced this week.
He revealed the sales timeline for the 110 units in the $120 million Bailey development alongside 220 top-end hotel rooms.
“The pre-sale program will start next month when we release them onto the market,” he said.
“Then people will be able to move into their new apartments in November.
“The pre-sale starts in August, then we get into the full sales program in September.
“Most people will want 60 days’ settlement, so that takes us through to November for buyers to actually move in.”
Mr Davie, who said he had left the company to focus on his own business interests in Newcastle, said his former billionaire boss Ghassan Aboud would be in Cairns for Bailey’s opening in November.
He is also expected to return for the opening of Flynn – which has been pushed back to April next year.
“There are two reasons for that (new time frame),” Mr Davie said.
“We want to get Bailey up and operating.
“We don’t need to flood the SNEAK PEEK: Crystalbrook Collection's Bailey hotel and apartment complex is due to open before the end of 2019. market in what is traditionally a quieter period of the year with an extra 300 rooms.
“We also need to get our staff established in Bailey, then we can focus on the recruitment drive and opening of Flynn in that April period.”
Mr Davie’s exit comes as questions still remain over Cairns Regional Council’s intention to redevelopment the Esplanade’s outdoor dining precinct.
“My issue is that for the next 12 months, there’s only sufficient budget for the planning process,” he said.
“The finance for the real works will become available in the following budget year.”
There will also be a council election between now and then, and nothing to say the next mayor will follow the schedule.
