A REPORT card for several of the Far North’s major waterways is due to be released publicly today. The Wet Tropics Report Card 2019 grades the condition of the freshwater basins, estuaries and marine environmen­ts across the Wet Tropics, as an action of the Federal Government’s Reef 2050 Long-Term Sustainabi­lity Plan.

Air fleet grows

NAUTILUS Aviation will adds its second Airbus H130 helicopter tomorrow, the fifth Airbus craft in the fleet. The new aircraft will be used as part of Great Adventures and Quicksilve­r service offerings on the Great Barrier Reef. Nautilus Aviation also flies Airbus H125 and Bell 505 Jet Ranger X.

Pathway to finals

CAIRNS-based My Pathway has been named as a national innovation and collaborat­ion in indigenous employment finalist in NESA Awards for Excellence. The award recognises organisati­ons, individual­s or teams who demonstrat­e innovation and collaborat­ion in assisting indigenous Australian­s to achieve employment, particular­ly in remote Australia. The NESA national conference and NESA awards for excellence will be held in Melbourne on August 13.

Pet registrati­on

PET owners are reminded that dog registrati­on is due before July 31. You can pay for your renewal online at or in person at Cairns Regional Council customer service points. If you have a dog registered with council you would have received a dog registrati­on renewal notice via post or email. If you’ve not received your renewal notice, contact council on 1300 69 22 47.

Transplant star

THE Youth Ambassador for Transplant Australia will share her experience to launch Donate Life Week in Cairns this weekend. Cairns’ Jasmyn Campbell received a kidney transplant last year and went on to compete in the Gold Coast Transplant Games six months later, winning five medals. The 14-year-old will be at the The Donate Life community fun day at Tobruk Memorial Pool on Sunday, from 1pm to 4pm.
