Chambers chef cooking up success

THE head chef at one of Cairns’ newest eateries has been nominated for Queensland Chef of the Year 2019.

Michael Orford, of The Chambers, was chosen as one of 28 chefs to compete in a cookoff at the Brisbane Convention Centre this Sunday and Monday. Participan­ts will have one hour to prepare dishes from a mystery box of ingredient­s.

With experience working in Europe for five years before returning home to Cairns, Mr Orford, 28, has worked at the Lake St business since it opened last year.

“The team is so incredibly proud of him and will be cheering from the sidelines in Brisbane come August,” said The Chambers spokeswoma­n Leith Wilson.
