On cyclists

Re: Richard Brinsmead. I own a bike and a car. All bike riders that I know also own a car. When we ride our bikes our cars stay in the garage. When we are riding our bikes we are not driving our cars and blocking up the roads. Someone should call a “No Bike “day and then see who starts whinging about excess traffic. Dekka, Machans Beach Jason, Caravonica. Pushbikes are only banned on freeways. Bikes should pay some rego as I have to pay rego on my four cars, three trailers and two boats to take them on the roads. Daz, Mareeba Jason, Caravonica (CP, 08/08). You’re wrong about the road rules which is exactly why road-going cyclists need to be both licensed and registered. It is negligent of traffic authorities to allow people on dangerous roads with inadequate knowledge of the rules they must know to survive. Richard, Brinsmead Jason (CP, 08/08). Technology advances. Cars superseded bikes, roads were made for cars, get the idea? It happens, get over it. Bill, Mooroobool When the massacres ended in 1920, there was only 60,000 left. Do you know the true history of Australia? Bell, Westcourt To all the climate alarmists. Do yourselves a favour and read Dorothea McKellar’s poem I Love a Sunburnt Country. Published in 1909, which starts with: “I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains, of ragged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.” Al, Redlynch Please explain why we spent millions of dollars on a concrete path next to the Captain Cook Hwy, when in a few years we will need to widen the road to four lanes in order to handle the increase of traffic? Roland Ziegler, North Cairns “Wind farms face action” (CP, 08/08). Ha ha, myth busted. Renewables caused the SA blackout, otherwise the Australian Energy Regulator wouldn‘t be taking them to court. Let’s exit Paris, end the climate scam, build new coal and nukes, and return to prosperity. Tradie, Colorado Palaszczuk and Healy throwing tantrums that the Federal Government won’t fund State Government responsibilities. Annastacia, it’s called a budget, and you’ve blown yours. You should be embarrassed having to keep putting your hands out for other people to do your job. Joanne, Mt Sheridan Remember the Greenies bloviating that the statewide blackout in SA weren’t the wind farms fault? The report (CP, 08/08) on the Australian Energy Regulator’s legal action against four wind farm operators puts the lie to that. Renewables are a failed experiment. End the subsidies, it’s time for a return to clean coal. Steamed, Cairns I wonder how long the climbing ban on Uluru will last once the tourists stop coming and the dollars stop rolling in? Daza, Mooroobool
