On Cairns Festival
Phillipa Cannon (CP, 14/08). I’m not sure what you’re getting at; emissions don’t matter if it’s for the entertainment of the elites. But if you think all the truckies who you’d like to see park out of town and wheel the goods to the Collins Ave-style CBD won’t give off emissions then you might be surprised. Miss T, Tolga Reading Phillipa Cannon’s letter took me back to when the Cairns Festival was called Fun in the Sun. Munro Martin Park and Esplanade came alive with free activities for all the family. We dressed in our tropical gear and it was a fun festival. This is what Cairns needs, not what the festival now has on offer. If life is so precious then why not stop sale of cigarettes. Will the capitalists take responsibility for the 15,000 deaths every year due to tobacco-related illnesses. Leave those trees alone.
