Ferrari rallies to the cause
Brand ups support for Targa
ONE of the world’s most famous supercar brands is officially coming to this month’s Targa Great Barrier Reef tarmac rally.
Ferrari will be supporting six teams while also bringing three of their latest models – a 488 Spider, a Portofino and a million-dollar 812 Superfast Tailor Made – to the Far North for potential customers to test drive on some of the region’s best roads.
Ferrari Brisbane marketing manager Alexandra Taylor said it was the first time the Italian brand was staging a corporate event in Cairns.
“Several of our customers will be in town as part of the rally,” she said.
“Herbert Appleroth, chief executive of Ferrari Australasia, will be participating in the Targa Tour as well as the general manager of Ferrari Brisbane Shaun Mackle.
“In total six Ferraris will be taking to the roads. A big jump from just the one last year.”
“Ferrari Brisbane is taking part in Targa GBR because this event gives our customers the opportunity to enjoy their car on the kinds of roads Ferraris were built for.”
Confirmed participants are Manu Nithianantha and Martin Smith (Ferrari GTC4 Lusso), Adam and Daniella Carmichael (Ferrari F12) and Howard and Jane Aron (Ferrari 488 Pista). Following the Targa, Ferrari Brisbane is holding a three-day ‘pop-up’ at the Riley Crystalbrook for test drives by appointment from September 2-4. “Ferrari ownership is growing in the region and Ferrari Brisbane are endeavouring to get to know the community and owners better and cater to unique issues that come with living in this beautiful but remote region,” Ms Taylor said.
A service clinic will be held in Cairns for seven customers with a service manager and a head technician from Brisbane.
