What a waste of money
ANOTHER government business case set up for the deferment of making a decision. Most of the government money is spent on business cases or environmental studies.
The expansion of the diversionary centre on Lyons St in Cairns is a waste of money for more reasons than one. Questions should be asked. Where do the street drunks come from? Why is the centre not built in the area they come from or the town near where they used to live? Why are these people not sent back to where they come from? What about the expense which has already been spent on rehabilitating these people back home?
If the city and state governments are fair dinkum these diversionary centres would not be built in the city, but back in the surrounds which these people know best. The money looks good to the nice people in our community and of course to the United Nations, both of whom do not live in the real world and who do not know these people and the problems they cause.
Maybe they could all move into an arts centre in the city? There appears to plenty of money and space there.
