Goodbye, good luck teachers

By Fredrick Boswell and Mason Ryan, Year 5, Holy Cross School

-

IT’S been a sad time lately. At Holy Cross our French teacher and two music teachers are leaving.

Our French teacher and Year 6 teacher Tillman DunnOswald is returning to his home town in Germany to care for his sick and ageing parents.

Christina Wight was our music and drama teacher and while she went on leave Erin Mullane filled in and now they have both left Holy Cross for new adventures.

Mr Dunn-Oswald has been our French teacher for this year but has been at Holy Cross for over 10 years.

While at Holy Cross he has taught lots of students in Year 4 and 6 and has had a positive impact on many of them.

Ms Wight has been teaching music and drama at Holy Cross for three years and we will never forget the wonderful Christmas concerts she helped to create. Her choir students have missed her greatly. She is leaving to pursue a career in counselling.

Ms Mullane has been our music teacher for this term and will be leaving to take up a position at Mossman High School and to live at Mossman with her family.

On Ms Mullane’s last day a dance was held that the whole school could participate in to farewell Mr Dunn-Oswald and Ms Wight.

Every grade had been practising one minute of a dance to surprise our teachers. However Ms Mullane didn’t not know that we would be surprising her by dancing to Let It Go, but we would sing “Just Don’t Go”. It was a very sad but special morning.

Farewells are never easy but we are happy that these teachers have left their mark on the school.

We wish them the best of luck in the future.
