A NEW committee has been appointed at the Innisfail Chamber of Commerce.

This year’s new president is Nadine Picini and the new treasurer is Peter Lowe.

For a second year Kathrine Maclean will be the secretary and Gordon McPherson-Rayner the vice-president.

Two new members have joined the committee with six members now on the board, including Alison Theurillat and Caitlyn Bonassi. They have joined Nadene Forster, Kate Lizzio, Leann Centis and Duane Amos.

Mrs Picini has been the owner of Cheryl-Lee Florist in Innisfail for the past 15 years.

She said she had never been appointed to a position in a committee like this before and she was looking forward to the challenges.

She said she was excited to work with the new committee to see what their strengths were moving forward.

“Our aim is to move forward with a new positive team to continue to grow our membership and help clean our town up,” she said.

“I want to interact with the small businesses of Innisfail and learn about how we can all utilise all of our services to benefit everyone.”

She planned to touch base with businesses in the coming months.

“I would like to get the town looking really clean,” Mrs Picini said.

She said some of her ideas included hanging baskets out the front of businesses, getting working teams to clean up areas of the town and bringing in better signage so that visitors could see what was around the region.

“It is great to see the committee grow with younger generations coming through and I am excited to work with them to come up with new ideas,” she said.

“I want to build a positive base with our new team and see what we can all bring to the table.

“We can also work with the council and let them know what the business community of Innisfail are thinking.

“Big thank you to previous committee members. We hope to see our membership grow and we look forward to talking to all of the local businesses owners in the coming months.”

The next meeting is in September. Visit the Innisfail Chamber of Commerce website for more information.
