On climate change

-

Agnes, Mareeba. If thousands of dentists told you that you needed a filling you believe them. But when thousands of climate scientists produce records proving global warming, you believe unqualified sceptics. Reminds me of the saying: “You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink.” Trevor, Park Ridge Last week we read that winter was over and we wouldn’t be needing our jumpers anymore. But today (CP, 26/08) we read there might be another cold spell. If they can forecast the temperature to 1.5 degrees accuracy for the year 2100, why can’t they be sure about the next week? Mark, Cairns North ways because they certainly aren’t representative of the people that this party was initially born of. Icarus, Atherton Bazza (CP, 26/08). You are spot on. Rugby league is no longer a game of football but a game of mobile wrestling by force with ball play secondary. As a result supporters have dropped off in attendance as have the number of young players. Parents do no want their children playing a sport that requires force, not ability. AFL and soccer play and promote usage of the ball not force. Rugby will be a sport of the past if it continues in its current state. Tony, Cairns I believe it but I don’t want to. When are drivers going to “get it” that using your phone while driving will kill you or someone else. I’m a victim of being T-boned by a driver on her phone and she had two kids in the car. Luckily only the cars were write-offs and no deaths. It could have been far worse. Put down the phone when driving and don’t pick it up unless you pull over or reach your destination. Beth, Kanimbla Halve Queensland’s energy prices today. Withdraw from the national grid and let Victoria and South Australia sit in the dark. Give them time to grow up and reflect on electing idiots who skyrocketed energy prices and undermined their power stability. Joanne, Mt Sheridan The disgusting mural by Scott Marsh in Sydney says it all about free speech as defined by the Left. This is what would happen if the Left had absolute control over our freedom to speak out. David, Holloways Beach (CP, 26/08). Defence Minister Linda Reynolds. Instead of your bleeding heart reaction why don’t you look at where our millions of dollars aid to PNG goes. Don, Earlville On Reef Casino profits, (CP, 26/08). Don’t forget that many tourists didn’t come because they were told the Reef had died. There are plenty of other casinos that are near live reefs. Joanne, Manunda With leading Kuranda environmental campaigners (CP, 26/08) having joined the ranks of property developers, is there really any rational reason for the continuing local opposition to KUR-World? Richard, Brinsmead
