The Cairns Post

On Trent Twomey

-

Re: Trent Twomey. Your comment in the Cairns Post (02/09) personifies the reason for change and apparently the need for change. I read the article on the need for change and at no stage was it personal, it was opinion and comment of several members of the Cairns business community unlike your comments which were very personal and childish. Perhaps you are unaware of the fact we live in a democracy. Tony, Cairns I’m with Trent Twomey (CP, 02/09) when it comes to former mayor Kevin Byrne. We voted you out, Kevin. Please go away grey nomading or cruise-ship touring or whatever. The main thing is you go away. Joanne, Manunda Trent Twomey, Advance Cairns chairman, wants Kevin Byrne to retire (CP, 02/09). Too much competition and common sense? Recall Advance Cairns’ submission to the Co-ordinator General in 2015 “We believe that the Cairns Port will need to continue to incrementally develop the port …”, thus opposing the full dredging program. Who really has Cairns’ best interests at heart? Peter, Redlynch here. Political correctness has a lot to answer for. Ex-Labor voter, Westcourt So are the CDRL going to come down hard on supporters for their disgusting behaviour on the weekend? Seems like they never do because it continues to happen. Luke, Innisfail Sob story of week so far. Drug trafficker’s story of need because he ran out of prescription opioids so turned to meths. What a crock. I, along with many others have had shoulder ops and back complaints but we managed to stop meds or regulate prescription drugs and enjoy life. The courts continue to believe this codswallop from dealers. Ten years would have been better sentence. David, Holloways Beach (CP, 28/08) Page 16. Aussie Spy. Amazing how Foreign Minister Marise Payne can speak up for Yang Hengiun but silent for Julian Assange. We are puppets for America. Don, Earlville Why is this Sri Lankan family not allowed to stay? Are the parents criminal? Aren’t we a caring democratic society? It seems democracy is dead. Norm, Cairns 470 missed flights, eh (CP, 02/09). The people who were given the free flights but then couldn’t be bothered to fly or re-book sure aren’t showing much respect to those of us who work to pay their medical, welfare and transport bills. If you want respect you’ve got to give respect - it’s a two-way street. Mark, Cairns North David Richard Clapham (CP, 02/09) is correct regarding 2 NRL clubs in Brisbane. SA and WA have 2 AFL clubs however they are historically and geographically separated, that can’t be the case with the NRL in Brisbane. The Gold Coast’s AFL and NRL teams are flops accept it and move on softly softly. Robert, Earlville
