Teaming up for so much fun
By Ziggy Groot and Nash Heath-Coppin, Year 4, St Andrew’s Catholic College
ON September 6, the whole of Year 4 went to Goomburra Park for a team building day excursion.
The purpose of the excursion was to strengthen relationships by building trust and friendship with one another.
In our groups we did a number of games called minefield, parachute, land skis, traffic jam, chocolate marshmallow, trust activities,
We competed in the Science and Engineering group and won a Spirit of Opti-minds award along with seven others.
You win this award if you keep going along with your performance even if things don’t work out.
In my group’s case, one of the mechanisms of our device broke but we still continued with our performance.
The winner of both Language and Literature and Science and Engineering for the Primary School Division was Woree State School. gutter ball and group juggle.
In these activities we had to work together as a team.
We walked from the college to the park while chanting our awesome war cries we made up and taking turns to hold our team banners that we painted in class.
When we arrived we had a small liturgy all about friendship.
We had to pack our own morning tea but surprisingly lunch was provided and everyone loved it.
We also made really cool headbands that we got to draw by ourselves, with our team animal.
After lunch we got to play on the awesome playground and kicked the footy.
The benefits of the day and the activities were to encourage others, build team spirit, create a sense of belonging and to improve communication. Everyone had the best day ever.
