I am very disappointed that PM Scott Morrison has used the race card to divert attention from an MHR who appears to have actively supported a number of Chinese Communist Party organisations in recent years. A million dollars raised by an individual within the Chinese community for any political party raises a range of disturbing questions about Chinese Communist Party influence. First our universities and academics, then Senator Sam Dastyari, the NSW Labor Party, now what appears to be an attempt to buy influence from the Liberal Party. Please Mr Morrison cut the politics, and address and stop the concerted attack by Communist China on our democracy. Rick, Redlynch An oil shock is occurring and Australia is dreadfully exposed. We have three weeks of oil and no strategic stockpile. When we cannot move our food, let alone defend ourselves, we will be at the mercy of any other country with oil to supply. Again we are sending our navy to the Persian Gulf. We need to bring oil refining and its associated industry and jobs back to Australia and become selfreliant. Joanne, Mt Sheridan Shane, Kanimbla. As far as the Cowboys getting no respect from other teams you are mistaken. The first final the Cowboys played in was a Broncos home game. The Broncos gave up their home ground advantage so the Cows could build their supporter base. That is respect. Ron, Mareeba It’s not just big energy companies that should be broken up (CP, 18/09). It’s big universities, big government departments, big states, big unions, big banks, big tech companies and plenty more. Competition is best for a vigorous society and without it we pay more for less. Richard, Brinsmead Just opened an email from Neighbourhood Watch. It shows a huge list of break and enters and means so much heartache for the victims, not to mention the feeling that their castle is no longer safe. When are we going to see real penalties for these grubs? Enough is enough, the current system is a joke. Beth, Kanimbla Re: Saints class of ‘79. I noticed in the photo no one seemed to be overweight. Funny how times change. We eat more and do less now. Just saying. George, Cairns
