Priorities questioned
RE: “MP wants 10 new officers brought in” (CP, 25/09).
After having had a vehicle break-in complaint totally ignored and weeks later placed on a 12-hour curfew (by two police officers, the second one presumably the back-up) for having my TV volume too high while watching RocKwiz,I could reasonably question the priorities set by our senior police staff.
My experiences form an insignificant sample, however we often hear similar experiences suggesting there may be a more serious issue at play.
While additional officers may be required one should initially question efficiencies, or lack of, by those “allegedly running the show” funded by the taxpayer. Politicians may gain mileage and a police service more staff, however unwittingly throwing good money after bad won’t necessarily help anyone else.
