Dobbers spoil Aussie fun

-

AUSTRALIA is in danger of losing our cultural values of fair go, mateship, sense of humour and having fun to a new national culture of wimps, wowsers and dobbers.

In Palm Cove every Sunday between 2pm and 5.30pm a group of ukulele musicians set up their gear in front of Beach Almond restaurant and play fun toe-tapping music that allows wannabe musicians to bring their ukuleles and join in, plus allow others in the audience to sing along to their hearts’ content.

That was until this week when following a complaint about noise, the authorities shut them down.

Now I’m sure if one looks hard enough at the fine print there is some bylaw or other that allowed this to happen but for goodness sake.

The world is in economic turmoil, criminals go unpunished, young people believe our world is doomed, yet again, but heaven help you if you want to make music, sing songs and make people happy. Michael Rashleigh, Clifton Beach
