MILLAA MILLAA

THE golf gods certainly turned on the weather for the Falls Teahouse, Mungalli Creek Dairy and Malanda RSL monthly medal at Royal Millaa Millaa this Sunday. 24 players turned out to play and, as a result, some pretty impressive scores were carded. A big welcome to new member Mark Twomey who bought along a visitor Shane Lobenwein, I hope you both enjoyed the company and the day’s golf. Winner on the day, and the seven points, was Geoff Errey with a nett 65, second with a 66 nett and the five points was Richard (Sol) Sullivan, in third on the easiest countback I have had to do (18 handicap with 39 on the back nine) with a 68 and taking the three points was new member Mark Twomey. Marg Azar was the winning lady on Sunday and would love to see a few more women come and have a hit. If you think you would like to have a go or even get some pointers call Bob the club captain on 0417 749 070. He will be more than happy to help out or at least point you in the right direction. Nearest the pin on 1/10 went to Keith Dixon, 5/14 winner was Dylan Williams and the winner of the second shot NTP on 8/17 was Bruce Hunter. Congratulations to all the winners and again thank you to our wonderful sponsors. Next week is the Malanda Caltex Tropic trophy day. Select your own team for this three-ball ambrose competition.

RAVENSHOE

A GOOD field of “golfers” turned out for the annual Torimba ambrose at Ravenshoe Millstream Country Club and everyone had a fun afternoon. Thank you to the Torimba Queen entrants and their supporters for turning out for the occasion. Best wishes to all of you and we hope you enjoy the next couple of weeks. Winners on the day were the two Daves and Holly with the best gross, while Cody and Ben took out the nett. NTPs went to Travis and Scott. Next Sunday is the October monthly medal. Don’t forget that the third round of the Tableland Challenge is fast approaching on October 27, so get your teams ready. Ravenshoe has a slight lead, but home ground advantage can make a difference at Millaa Millaa. On Sunday, October 20, a nine-hole afternoon event will be held in order to allow everyone time to recover from the Torimba cabaret on Saturday night. Ravenshoe will host the FNQ junior open event on Saturday, October 26. This was a huge success last year and the nominations are already flowing in. Email ravgolf@hotmail.com. CU@the 19th.
