On Warren Entsch

-

Re: the Reef. I am wondering how Warren Entsch can fix the Reef when he couldn’t or wouldn’t help the people of Speewah keep their free-to-air television. Which wasn’t exactly free as we had to pay the Mareeba Shire Council to leave the switch on until they said it was too expensive for them to run although we paid for it. We sent petitions to Mr Entsch as well as the minister and got no response. So our free TV got turned off. So if he can’t be bothered keeping our freeto-air how can he fix the Reef which is a much harder thing to do? Jo, Speewah I don’t think taxpayers will see much value from the money spent on Warren Entsch as Reef envoy (CP, 08/10). We’d be better off if every local, state and federal politician from Rocky north loudly proclaimed the robust health of the Reef as a matter of routine. As to plastics in the sea, lobby Western nations to stop sending it to Asia and Africa where it gets dumped in rivers. Burn it for energy here instead. Higgs, Tolga Hallelujah, Wazza to the rescue. The reef is saved, the same one he has previously (correctly) stated on many occasions is not in danger. Karl, Yorkeys Knob wombat and we can’t say it was cruel because he was Aboriginal. Amazing. The Left are insane. Shane, Kanimbla Referee Ben Cummins spoiled a good game of football over his decision. He should never be allowed to referee a major game again. From a Roosters fan. Don Mackay, Ravenshoe Digger, (CP, 06/10) like all climate change deniers make it up as they go along, also known as hyperbole. Realist, Cairns Electric cars are more dangerous than petrol cars. Petrol cars keep the components of their energy source separate until needed. Fuel in the tank, oxygen in the air, mixed in the engine as required. Battery cars have the components of their energy source (cathode, anode, charged electrons) in layers all in the battery. Pierce or break the battery and a fierce fire erupts which is very hard to extinguish. Digger, Cairns Bob Manning, the mayor who brought us Aquis, light rail and our new rectangular stadium. A 100% record of failure. Mal, Woree When protesters cause disruption to airports and the general public going about their own business, they lose respect and support from me. Before the airport protests in Hong Kong, I understood the cause of protesters. Now they’ve become violent and destroying Hong Kong. Hoping climate change protests aren’t going the same way. Very sad. Meg, Smithfield Richard, Palm Cove. You could have added Airport Ave to your criticism of the abysmal appearances of Cairns Airports. It’s a disgrace and needs urgent beautification. The drive between Changi Airport and Singapore is a wonderful example of what could be done along Airport Ave. Tony, Bayview Heights
