Are fireworks necessary?

-

COULD someone please explain to the public of Cairns who is approving “fireworks displays” when we, and all of Queensland, are currently under a total fire ban?

Fireworks are wonderful, but certainly not necessary in an already fire-ravaged state.

Hospital might have big problems fitting you into their theatres.

My daughter broke her ankle on Tuesday, November 26, and got taken to Cairns Hospital for treatment. The doctors advised they had to operate, however could not fit her in before the next day. She stayed in the hospital overnight. Next day she was advised, they could not fit her in for the operation, as some emergencies had come up and told her to go home, fast overnight and come back the next day.

We were called early the next morning and told they could not fit her in until the beginning of the next week. Monday, December 2, the hospital phoned again to say unfortunately, they could not operate on her ankle before Thursday or Friday. Come Thursday, December 5, she was told to come in, stayed there the full day and had to return home again without the operation. Was assured that on

Friday, December 6, they would perform the operation.

She is now back home after staying there the whole day again, and still no operation. Now it is perhaps going to happen early next week

Two weeks in pain with a broken ankle. That is what can happen if you live in Cairns.
