Young stars tread the boards

“I’LL be back, and there will always be … candy crush,”

Lady Fortune declared.

The Young Company Theatre (TYC) has been coming to Holy Cross School and teaching us how to become better actors.

Every Monday after school, 16 Holy Cross students have been working with TYC’s awesome teachers who have helped us through every step of this phenomenal journey.

They have taught us fun games to help us with our acting skills.

Students from all year levels participated in the program with our youngest, Cleo Parenti, from Year 1.

On November 23, the TYC Holy Cross troupe held our performance, Let the Games Begin.

With help from many TYC staff, everyone was ready and knew their lines and we performed our play with spectacular costumes, props and lighting.

Vicky (Jasmine Bowe), Marney (Jacqui Bahceci) and Robin (Jessica Bahceci) played the roles of the three young kids who spend too much time on their devices.

Grandad (Christopher Willcock) was trying to bring adventure to his screenaddicted grandchildren with a magical seven-sided dice.

With a roll of the magical dice, they enter a strange world “Gameland” where Lady Fortune (Hannah Willcock) and Little Fortune (Ebony Diamond) are evil villains trying to imprison the three kids.

If they lose the game they have to go to jail.

The first game of Monopoly results in Vicky going to jail.

The four station masters (Dylan Bird, Mitch Bird, Alec Cooper and Chris Willcock) played really funny roles leading the two adventurous kids to try and get Vicky out of jail.

The scene where Alec

Cooper was trying to teach the others how to be ‘normal’ Monopoly characters was hilarious.

An unusual game of Cluedo followed with Rev Green (Bella Kneebone), Dr Orchid (Austin Miller), Miss Peacock (Pia Grossetti) and Col Mustard (Ava Diamond) trying to figure out who killed the cook Mrs White (Alice Braisted).

However, at the end of it all, with the help of Will Luck

(Alice Braisted), Lady Fortune gets led to jail herself by the Sergeant (Cara Kelly) because she lost the final game of kings and queens and was cheated by her own rules.

The TYC teachers have helped us, taught us and have shown us how to be better actors.

Let the Games Begin was an excellent performance.

TYC is for anyone who enjoys adventure, making new friends, learning some really cool acting skills, wanting to have fun and is willing to give anything a go.

TYC has been a great addition and we are so looking forward to learning more with them again next year.
