Showstopping shine for spectrum of cars
you see two of the latest Rolls-Royce super-luxury vehicles wafting along the streets of Cairns it is not the Queen visiting.
The black 2019 Rolls-Royce Cullinan is the marque’s first SUV with a price tag close to $1 million. The other is the flagship Phantom, in this case about $1.3 million, in a dark navy blue.
They are both owned by a wealthy Cairns resident who wishes to remain anonymous.
But they have just received special paint treatment of the top order by detailer Andy
Smart of Smart Pro Detailing.
The tender loving care costs thousands of dollars and provides a protection with the ultimate sheen, better than when they came out of the factory.
“The Phantom took shy of 100 hours and the Cullinan 112 hours. We (two technicians) spent eight days on each vehicle,” Mr Smart said.
“After a long journey, any vehicle will require paint correction to remove imperfections, swirls, bug marks, light scratches to refine painted surIF faces to better than brand new condition before paint protection is installed,” he said.
“That’s why we spend many hours to make paint work flawless with extra special care on unique vehicles like RollsRoyce with hand painted coach lines.”
The work included a decontamination wash to remove bugs, tar, metal fallout, masking all glass, plastics and rubbers and three stages of machine polishing.
“Both vehicles were protected by us with Modesta, a high-end glass coating brand which we offer for our clients (only authorised detailers worldwide can install it with less than 10 currently in Australia).
“Work included machine polishing to refine the paintwork, primer as cross-link and paint enhancer and two layers of Modesta coatings for extra durability and truly unique finish. Final step was infra-red curing of all coated panels to cure the coatings.”
Mr Smart said it was “a privilege” to work on the unique and elegant vehicles.
His firm also applies the glass coatings to “average” cars such as Mazda3s and Hondas, as well as BMWs, Ford Mustangs, Chevrolet Camaros, Porsche 911s, Mercedes-Benzes, Range Rovers and a Ferrari.
