The guest speaker was QantasLink pilot and aviator of more than 15 years Alana Wark, who talked about the gains made in Earhart’s name for women in aviation.

FEMALE participation in rugby league has skyrocketed, with recent data showing numbers have more than doubled in the past five years.
However, concerns are growing over the number of boys dropping out of the game, prompting statewide changes to the practice of tackling in the under-6 and under-7 divisions.
Figures show about 28,593 girls played rugby league across the country in 2019, compared with 11,633 during the 2015 season.
Meanwhile, male participation from under-5s through to over-19s fell by more than 8000 participants in the same time frame.
It follows a shake-up to the state’s junior competitions that has outlawed tackling in the under-6 division and a notackling policy for the first 10 rounds of the under-7 competition. The game’s decisionmakers are hopeful the changes will bring more kids back to the game.
Two-time premiership-winning Bronco Ali Brigginshaw said the rise in female participation was due to exposure.
“Just the exposure we’re getting now. Having the games on television and having more games accessible to young girls,” she said. “They’re seeing that they can play it, too.”
NRL hierarchy have been happy with the rise in women’s rugby league across Australia in the past five years and are hopeful it will continue. working harder at improving diversity.”
Cairns Zonta president Roslyn Scott said the money from the event would go towards purchasing and repairing breast care cushions for the community, and birthing kits for women in rural and remote situations and developing countries.
