A FORMER car rental agency space, offering unrivalled positioning at the entrance to Cairns Airport, has hit the Far Northern commercial property market.

The former Atlas Car and Truck Rental property at 410 Sheridan St, Cairns North, is being offered up to a prospective industrial tenant by Colliers International, Cairns.

Jay Beattie of Colliers International said the main road location of the property delivered maximum exposure to passing traffic, while the established industrial precinct provided commercial benefits.

“The site has a unique combination of main road exposure with the addition of secure entry via Moffat St and easy airport access via Lake St,” he said.

“With a substantial 89m of frontage on Airport Ave, combined with 22m of street frontage on the busy Sheridan St, potential tenants should immediately identify with the fundamental benefits this property offers.”

Cairns Airport is currently undergoing a $55 million redevelopment of its domestic terminal, including reconfigured boarding gates, extra seating, and an improved layout with an extra 2000 sqm of shopping and dining outlets.

Mr Beattie said with the expansion and upgrade to T2 terminal scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2020, an increase of traffic to and from the airport would offer additional exposure for a prospective business.

“Bringing a point of difference to the leasing market, the property offers a generous 2703 sqm for the total site – a size which is hard to find in central Cairns that is in a location as high profile,” he said.

“The property is improved with a modern purpose-built industrial workshop and office building.

“The workshop is 180 sqm, with a wash bay of 25 sqm and the office area is 152 sqm.

“The balance of the land features hardstand and a fenced, gravelled area for carparking or storage.”

The property is offered for immediate lease.

Atlas was placed in voluntary administration on October 22 and ceased trading in Australia about two months later.

The Melbourne-based car and truck rental agency, which had two outlets in Cairns, had been operating nationwide for more than 20 years.
