Great to see 20 bowlers on the green for Tuesday’s Twilight Bowls. Thursday social bowls winners: C Kimbacher, Wazza, M Roots and L Fedalto.

The 2020 club fours final was played on Friday afternoon with A Strano, A Siliato, G McDonald and K Clark defeating S DellaPossa, D Judas, J Spina and S Pagano in a very close contest. Saturday afternoon saw the third round of the Ivan Granich Shield played in Tully against Gordonvale. Innisfail teams had a draw and a win, winning overall. We are top of the table after three rounds with the next round to be played in Innisfail against South Johnstone on February 1.

On Sunday morning G Goes defeated S Pagano in the 2019 consistenc­y singles and now plays P Anderson in the final. D Irwin and K Smith defeated G McDonald and P Smith in a 2020 club pairs game.

On Saturday the Mongrels travelled to Tully to play the third round of the Ivan Granich Shield where they defeated Silkwood. Round four will see South Johnstone travel to Innisfail on February 1 to play Innisfail. Team is as follows: Foord, Fedalto, Roots, Edgerton, Burns, McCarthy, O’Brien and Leach.

This Saturday and Sunday, South Johnstone will compete in the Rinaudo Shield at Silkwood starting at 9am. Squad: McInerney, Burns, Roots, Leach, Hanson, O’Brien, Fedalto, Deegan and Hooker, reserve is Raciti.

Ladies: Hope everyone had a great Christmas and new year. Ladies our 2020 bowling season will start back on January 15; there will be a meeting on that morning at 11am with social bowls after. If you wish a game give Liz a call on 0400626765 or Rita on 0402659571; names in by 12.15pm, start around 1.30pm, gentlemen are most welcome. The club also has bowls to lend at no extra cost. Ladies don’t forget that the list is up for our 2020 club championsh­ips, if you wish to play please put your name down ASAP. Good Bowling to all.

Last Monday, the existing committee was reelected together with two new members. In the afternoon 18 players played our normal social bowls despite the threat of a late thundersto­rm being present.

Winners were Belle Gillan, Pat Burke and Max Harker.

Every Monday after the cards are called at 1.15pm, play starts at 1.30pm for three hours of bowls with a break for a substantia­l afternoon tea.

All registered bowlers including other club members and overseas visitors are always welcome to join us. We ask that a phone number and advice of a preferred playing position is advised when contacting our selector on 0409624623 or recording names on the sheet available at the clubhouse.

Your home club attire if available is the suggested dress when visiting our club.

Bowls are also available for visitors.
