On other matters
Terry, you stated you want to treat the cause of emissions that cause extreme weather. The Paris targets don’t do that. The Paris Agreement redistributes wealth. That is why China, the world’s largest emitter with growing emissions, joined. The PA subsidises China to build military islands and fund a national space program, not reduce its carbon emissions.

“Renewable energy gets massive boost” (CP, 30/01). Actually investment in renewables in Queensland has fallen off a cliff, as the ABC reported, because the economic reality is hitting home. Renewables don’t supply power when we need it and batteries are too expensive to be competitive.

Keila Waksvik, (CP, 30/01). I’ll see if I can get a petition going to have the council send stinking bats to Kuranda Keila, seeing as you think so much of them. You will be able to keep an eye on them. Kuranda timber country is better for them than the centre of a city.

To people out there that think it’s all about them and their view of the world.
There is a drama film with a true-to-life message in some cases, that may help progress and broaden your outlook. It’s available on “SBS on demand” and free, named Mad Bas **** s, great acting, entertaining as well as enlightening. Realist, Cairns
We see it every wet season, tonnes of water going out to sea. Surely there are some clever engineers that can harness that water for use in areas other than Cairns. Has the State Government released details of any new dams being planned so that we are better prepared for our next massive drought? Drought proofing our country should be top priority for all state governments at the moment, forget money wasting Olympics!

To Keila Waksvik, of Kuranda. I have a flying fox management plan as well and that is to cull the flying vermin before humans are riddled with the diseases they carry. I mean were councillors, mayors and governments really that dumb years ago for culling? No, it’s just they had a spine and actually did something to stop the rot.

Retiree, there is currently well over
1000 coal-fired power plants under construction around the world. None in Australia because we have weak leaders who think they can change the world. Borrowed time I think not.
