Rob Williams is right about the importance of mangroves (CP, 11/02), so will he lobby to stop the ongoing culling of baby mangroves trying to reclaim their ancestral home on the Cairns foreshore? Higgs, Tolga

NRL players who refuse to recognise the national anthem should not be allowed to play. If they play and don’t respect the Australian anthem they shouldn’t be given Australian money.

Paul (CP, 11/02). The Turnbull-Pyne submarine deal needs sinking. Turnbull, Pyne, and their subs were hated by true conservatives. Turnbull was the best PM Labor never had. Pyne would have been a better fit in the Greens. We can buy offthe-shelf US subs for a fraction of the price and they’d actually be useful. Joanne, Manunda

Well said, Brett Duck (CP, 11/02) about the Bradfield Scheme. And it’s not just Libya that has mastered moving water to where it’s needed. Poverty-stricken Pakistan has 56,000 kilometres of irrigation canals. If Libya and Pakistan can do it, we can too.

The government’s eSafety watchdog wants parents to talk to two-year-olds to see if it’s OK to take and post photos of them. This is PC gone past the ridiculous, thought up by a bunch of overpaid professional dole bludgers trying to justify their jobs.

Bill, Mooroobool

Queensland’s coronavirus sufferers (CP, 11/02) are all Chinese tourists and were in a tour group. Virus particles are shed for two weeks before symptoms appear. So why have the rest of that tour group been allowed to continue their Queensland holiday? It wouldn’t be permitted in China right now.

Richard, Brinsmead

Sydney City Council is following London City Council regarding “zero” vehicle emissions in their cities. Can a new progressive Cairns City Council go some of the way by demanding our “diesel carbon monoxide noise polluting” public bus service go electric-powered? The passengers, business, city dwellers and tourists will all appreciate and benefit.

Robbo (CP, 11/02). The Libs have been in power in NSW for the last eight years. It’s time for those on the right to own what happens on their watch.

Paul, Palm Cove

Within the next five years trackless trams are headed to Sydney and other cities around the world. They are powered by electric batteries and have rubber wheels using sensors to guide their way along roads. This will come as bad news for right-wing activists, as they see their “beloved CO2 emissions” under attack again by those green-lefties.

Dorothea Mackellar penned it, we are a land of drought and flooding rains but we are also in 2020. We have put a man on the moon and sent them even further into space but we still can’t control our rainfall. It’s ludicrous. We have governments at all levels that just look at the next election. For everyone’s sake we need to find people who have vision and look at the big picture. There is too much suffering and we have the means to stop it.
