Thursday Social bowls, names in by 1pm, with visitors and new players most welcome. Friday night mixed grill with Sam and Nellie from 6.30pm.This is Valentine’s Day, so girls, bring along your Valentine for a good night out!

This Saturday we host the finals of the Ivan Granich Shield. Players required are Jim Martinod, Gavin and Ron Omodei, Ron Trackson, Les Maxwell, George Tsakissiris, Joe Vella and Bill Price. Res, Les Holland. South Johnstone vs Innisfail, Gordonvale vs Tully, Babinda vs Silkwood. Expect some good bowls, will be great for spectators! Open Pairs have been drawn up, expect to play Saturday week, February 22.

Brothers Edmonton Bowls Club Inc. Board of Management Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday, February 23, at 10am in Bros. Fuller Sports Club. All financial members, ladies and men are requested to attend. Current positions on the Board of Management will be declared vacant on the day. Expressions of interest for the 2020 committee are now closed and vacant positions will be from the floor on the day.

GORDONVALE

Ladies – Wed, February 12, President Naomi would like to let the ladies know that we will be back onto the green for the start of the new season.

Last week’s winners were Vince Black and Mucka. Runners-up were Michael Greenwood and Frank Rich. Raffle winner was M. Greenwood.

Great effort to all the players for their contribution in the Granich Shield that was played over the last few weeks. We had some good wins and some losses. Unfortunately, a loss was had by M Greenwood and Mucka at their recent game of Championship Pairs on the weekend.

Friday night Barefoot Bowls and BBQ have recommenced. Bookings are essential for catering purposes for BBQ. Barefoot bowls start from 4pm, BBQ 6pm onwards. Anyone interested in playing bowls or hiring the clubhouse kitchen or hall, please contact the clubhouse on 07 40561050 or leave a message with your name and phone number and we will return your call as soon as possible.

The Gordonvale Bowls Club is always looking for new members. Why not pop in on Friday night and have a coldie and a chat with fellow members or bring your family and mates and try having a roll up on the green. Happy bowling.

INNISFAIL

A good roll-up of 28 players enjoyed our Thursday social bowls. Winners of the day were A. Strano, K. Clark and M. Elliot. Runners-up were V. McAvoy, T. Dorrington, G. McDonald and G. Anderson.

In the Ivan Granich Shield, Innisfail played Babinda at South Johnstone for a win and a loss. We now play South Johnstone at Babinda on Saturday in the final. Check the noticeboard for the finals teams.

Results of some club games on Sunday were: A. Morrison and J. Walker defeated M. Roots and F. Catalan in the pairs and K.Clark defeated T. Dorrington in the B grade singles. In the mixed consistency singles final Pam Anderson prevailed against Gordon Goes for a good win. Congratulations Pam. The draw for the club triples will be done on Friday. Team nominations are on the noticeboard. Self-selected triples will recommence on the first Sunday of the month, March 1, at 9am. Team sheets are on the noticeboard. Everyone is invited to Tuesday Twilight Bowls. Please have names in by 5pm.

The club’s championship competition has started and the first on the line were

Tony Cates and Barry Green contesting the singles position. Both must be congratulated for their determination to play under hot, uncomfortable conditions.
