Group marks 15 years
MISSION Beach Community Association’s third president has marked the organisation’s 15 years advocating for the township.
President Pete Faulkner, Jenny Potts, Warren Giffen, treasurer Helen Roberts, secretary Nancy Gassin, vicepresident Michael Johnson, community liaison officer Truus Biddlecombe, minutes secretary Wanda Lowe and Peter Heywood make up the group’s 2020 committee.
Mr Faulkner said membership was growing and was now at 830 members, while more than 1600 people followed the MBCA Facebook page.
“MBCA exists to provide a forum for information but also as an advocate for ratepayers in issues of local importance where members’ views are clear,” he said.
“This is MBCA’s 15th anniversary – our first AGM was held in February 2005.
“I would like to acknowl“We edge Michael Johnson, Wanda Lowe and Truus Biddlecombe, who were all founding members at that time and remain on our executive committee today, and thank everyone else who has helped the association over that time.
“During this 15-year period, I am only the third president, after long stints by both Bill Shannon and Warwick Jull.
“As always, an organisation such as MBCA operates only because of the time and effort given to it by its volunteer committee members. I would therefore like to acknowledge and thank the entire executive committee for all their hard work during the year.
