FOUR youths have been arrested after a sickening gang attack on a teenage girl at Bentley Park. Police have described the daylight bashing, filmed and posted on social media, as “horrendous”. Dectective Inspector Jason Smith said even the bystanders could be charged.

POLICE have arrested four youths after a brutal head-stomping gang attack left a teenage girl screaming in pain and fear at Bentley Park.

Detective Inspector Jason Smith described the broad daylight bashing – captured on video and shared on social media – as horrific and said officers were working to bring the assailants to justice.

“The assault is really quite horrendous,” he said.

“She’s been kicked to the head, kicked to the stomach and belted with fists.”

Graphic footage of the beating shows a mob of teenagers chasing after a 15-year-old girl at Bicentennial Rd.

When they finally catch the young woman, she falls under a hailstorm of fists and kicks from one main aggressor while other members of the group take turns kicking, stomping and punching her.

Other members of the gang, previously not physically involved, can also be heard quibbling about whose turn it is to go next.

At one stage, a skinny boy can be seen stomping on the girl’s head.

When the disgusting footage finally ends, the girl is on the ground wailing in pain.

Insp Smith said potential charges against the suspected attackers, each aged 13-17, could be upgraded due to the suspected robbery of the girl and the fact the attack was filmed.

He said even the bystanders could face charges. “We’ve all heard about ‘one punch can kill’, and that’s absolutely true, whereas this poor girl sustained multiple injuries and at some stages was kicked,” he said.

“This was a volatile situation that could have gone horrendously wrong for those offenders and they could be in a lot more trouble than they currently are.”

Insp Smith said it was particularly galling to think the youths had shared videos of their sick exploits online.

“It does make it disturbing, because it suggests these people are proud of what they’ve done,” he said.

“There’s nothing to be proud of in this.

“For each one of those parties involved, there’s a family member which is just as horrified as each of us.”

Police had four youths in custody over the matter yesterday afternoon, with charges yet to be laid.

The 15-year-old victim somehow managed to escape the attack with only severe bruising.

The attack happened at 2pm on Saturday but was not reported to police until Sunday afternoon.
