Build as many prisons and Petford centres as you want, not much will change. Government­s need to stop building entertainm­ent shrines to themselves and start building roads, railway lines, dams and power stations, even a billion dollar tobacco industry, that when stupidly shut down, did nothing to prevent humans smoking.

Smithfield bypass. Let’s hope the Premier physically visits the intersecti­on where the bypass intersects with the western arterial so she can see only an overpass will solve the traffic problem. Even Mr Crawford in today’s Post says “the bypass will most likely funnel a lot of extra traffic on to the western arterial”.

As if the $100m sports rorts were not bad enough, half of the drought grants also went to ineligible councils. Now the media is reporting that $140m of the $150m earmarked for rural developmen­t went to big city marginal Liberal electorate­s. If I misused Commonweal­th funds I would be jailed. Where is ICAC?
