Brothers Edmonton Bowls Club Inc. Board of Management Annual General Meeting was held on Sunday, February 23. A motion was passed that the Sunday Meat Raffles be cancelled effective from February 29 and all game green fees be increased from $12 to $13 from Wednesday, February 26.

Wed, Feb 19: No Ladies bowls played due to wet weather. Thurs, Feb 20: Mens’ 3 Bowl Pairs – It was lovely to see a good turn up on the day with some Cairns men joining in the play. Winners: M Greenwood and D Syme. Thurs, Feb 27: Mens’ 3 Bowl Pairs (Mufti and club selected). Names to be in by 12pm sharp. Game starts 1pm. NB: All games will go ahead weather permitting. Fri, Feb 28: BBQ starts at 6pm. Everyone is welcome. Anyone interested, please ring club on 40561050 to make booking for catering. If phone is unattended, please leave message with your name, number and how many will be attending and someone will get back to you for confirmation. Our members would love to see you and your families unwind a bit at the end of the week. Unfortunately, Barefoot Bowls will not be played while the wet weather is around due to damage to the greens‘ surface.

Club competition called: Sat, Feb 29: Men’s Pairs – B Protheroe and G Morton v M Greenwood and F Rich, B Wright and P Huntress v Mucka and G Spicer. Cards called 12.30pm. Game will start at 1pm sharp. Anyone that has been called for competition and can’t make it, could you please call the clubhouse or Bevan Wright prior to competition day or as early as possible, so that it isn’t an inconvenience to fellow players who have to travel.

Thursday social bowls saw 19 bowlers on the green. Hope to see more bowlers as the weather cools down. Winners were S. DellaPossa, J. Walker and W. Hoskins. Runners-up were G. Anderson, K. Clark and D. Holdsworth. There was no bowls on Saturday due to the wet weather. Only one game of club A grade singles was played during the week with A. Siliato defeating M. Bright. We are looking for more bowlers for our 2 bowl self-selected triples on Sunday, March 01 at 9am. Nominations sheet is on the noticeboard or names in by 8:30am. Visitors are most welcome.

Men: An enjoyable afternoon of bowls with 31 players for Jackpot Bowls. On rink 5, at +4 (19 to 15) a win to Alan Tymms, Charlie Toohey and Joe Girgenti over Dave Blain, Mick Plummer and

Daryl Hoskins. On rink 3, at +10 (22 to 12) a win to Bob Hando, Billy Smith and Alister Douglas over John Fleming, Col Maxted and John Anderson. On rink 2, at +11 (24 to 13) a win to Eric Smith, Chris Payne and Gordon Henderson over Brian O’Connor, Dave White and Darren Hussey (welcome back Darren). On rink 4, at +17 (31 to 14) a win to John Arnold, Colt Dwyer, Peter Gorsuch and New Fletcher over Tony Kessler, Tony Brylack and Dave Egan. On rink 6, and the winners for the day at +35 (40 to 5) Ted Holmes, Nev Tesch and Dick Pitt over Doug Pitt, Les Phillips and Tony Pisot. Last Friday in the first game for the Club Championships, in the pairs, a win to Colt Dwyer and Les Phillips over Ranald Edwards and Gordon Henderson (22 to 17). This Friday, in the B Grade Singles, John Arnold will play Bruce Lester. On Sunday, in the B Grade singles, Swampy will play Bob Hando, Terry Richards will play Peter Worley and Dick Pitt will play Chris Payne.
