New digs for accountants
ACCOUNTANTS Grant Thornton have settled in to refurbished digs high in the Cairns Corporate Tower.
The level 13 office was upgraded with a particular purpose in mind.
“The new Cairns office was specially designed to reflect Grant Thornton’s collaborative and open culture,” a Grant Thornton spokeswoman said.
“Bright and airy, the layout maximises natural light while connecting people to the landscape and expansive views.
“We are committed to Cairns,” said Grant Thornton Cairns partner Joe Mendiolea.
“Grant Thornton has been here for the last five years, while my fellow partners and I have been working with our clients in this same building for the last 30 years.
“Significantly enhancing our technology, we look forward to better serving our clients wherever they are located.”
Other partners include Andrew Cornes, Anthony Beven, Tony Jonsson and Robert Ince, directors Cathy Devietti, Matt Mullen, Shona Cram and Olivia Van Wensveen, consultant Gerry Mier, principal Helen Wilkes and office chairman Graham Coonan.
From Cairns the firm serves clients in Far North Queensland, Cape York Peninsula, the Torres Strait regions, as well as the Northern Territory and central Australian regions.
The Grant Thornton Cairns office has a significant client base of corporate, indigenous, not for profit and public sector organisations in Northern Australia, focusing on business advisory, audit, corporate recovery, insolvency and financial advisory services.
Last year Grant Thornton Australia submitted to a parliamentary inquiry calling to improve conditions in the industry and retain talent.
The submission cited tight reporting deadlines to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission as driving away talent.
