Saving Australia

-

WELL us oldies are going to help save Australia. Glad to.

We worked diligently post-war years, raised our families on the smell of an oily rag for many years.

Toiled long and hard, no penalty rates or overtime, holiday loading, no super, no oversees holidays or cruises, no nightclubbing, one-car families just to name a few, but they were the times. We loved it.

We are now at those wonderful twilight years and do have some freedoms, and perhaps some hard-earned prosperity, which is why so many of us older people are travelling, and now have, inadvertently, been put in danger. This is very sad. We don’t blame the government for trying to protect us.

What you will notice with us oldies, now that we are housebound for a while, will be a hive of activity. We will get in and spring clean our houses, sort out the junk in grandpa’s garage, do some gardening, a bit of necessary shopping, play with the dogs, gurney the driveway, have a drink or two etc. What with all this activity, our greatest outings will be to the doctors. Seriously, let’s stay safe Australia.

If anything it’s the medical and scientific frontliners who deserve the title of “hero“— they are the ones who are sacrificing and taking risks.

Not someone chasing a ball on the ground or in the air or trying to hit one.

While I am at it why doesn’t the government throw some millions into starting some of the manufacturing businesses up again instead of relying on overseas countries. All you have to do is stop the unions getting involved with their ridiculous wage demands, and owners from being so greedy.
