A LAUNDRY worker who fractured her kneecap slipping and falling on loose stones outside an Edge Hill office block has launched a $900,000 lawsuit against the building’s tenant and millionaire owner.

Cairns woman Supreeda Taylor was walking outside the Woodward St block about 5am on March 17, 2017, when she slipped on the stones which had escaped from the path attached to the building and spilt onto the council footpath, according to allegations in documents filed in the Cairns Supreme Court.

Ms Taylor has claimed both Lidolow Pty Ltd, which leases the building, and its owner, Gold Coast property magnate Donald Channer, were negligent in maintaining the area.

The 52-year-old claimed she suffers ongoing knee pain from the fall, taking daily medication, and also lost her job as a laundry attendant just over a year after the incident.

“Even doing everyday tasks like cleaning and walking the dog has become really difficult,” she said.

Ms Taylor claimed the incident had impacted her work prospects and social life.

“I used to be a really outgoing person who loved to socialise, meeting up with friends regularly, but that has all changed since the accident,” she said.

“My confidence has gone; I just don’t want to meet people anymore.

“I’m now in constant pain and dealing with sleepless nights due to the concerns that I have for the future.

“I really just want to get my life back and make things easier for my family.”

Her solicitor, Maurice Blackburn Lawyers’ Beth Rolton, said the impact on Ms Taylor and her family’s life was “devastating”.

The claim, for $908,278.53, takes into account past and future lost earnings, along with medical treatment and psychological impact.

Lawyers for Lidolow Ptd Ltd and Mr Channer are yet to file any documentation in court and a court date is yet to be set.
