We need path out of COVID

-

THERE is only one thing on Australians’ minds right now and that’s when more restrictions will be eased.

As we breathe a sigh of relief as another day goes by without a new COVID case recorded in the Far North frustration grows.

The results of keeping the virus as contained as we have should not be forgotten – Australia has done a great job.

But it is well and truly time to be working through scenarios – with dates – to get the economic show on the road.

LNP leader Deb Frecklington has offered their road map and appealed to the Far North for the State to let go of a one-size-fits-all approach directed from Brisbane.

Regional Queensland with its wide open spaces and, in some parts towns and cities hundreds of kilometres away from a bottle tree let alone a servo, has scoffed at the 50km rule.

And it truly showed how desperate we’d become for something to do when a picnic was like winning Gold Lotto.

Labor has condemned the LNP’s plan as false hope but is it?

Punters within the community from engineers to tradies and home school teachers are doing the maths and they’re liking the odds on getting things moving as soon as possible.

We absolutely needed to put human safety first and protect our medical system, but the frontline in the battle has now shifted to schools, workplaces and rebuilding our way of life.

Yes it’s a fine line but sooner rather than later we need to get back to business.

It’s going to be a long road back. Jennifer Spilsbury
