“UK pushes quarantine” (CP, 11/05). Remember when sick people were put in isolation and the rest of us carried on as normal? It’s worked for over 100 years right back to the days of travel by sail. Why did we decide to lock up healthy people, too? Was it really about a virus? Or was it a Chinese ploy to damage the West as much as they’d damaged themselves?

I support Barry Braes 100% that “divulging criminal kids’ names and results of their actions …” and I would go further, to withdraw welfare payments to the parents if they are getting such. QLD is due to go to the polls this year and I for one will be voting for the political party that has a strong policy/deterrent on children delinquency and stronger changes to “the worthless Juvenile Justice Act.” James Akee, Mareeba

The usual left wing crowd claim Big Brother saved us from Chinese flu. The rest of us have seen the lack of logic and consistency and think govt has shot us in both feet. The Vic premier embodies this. On Sat he said: “This is a deadly and dangerous disease, which you can have without experiencing any symptoms.” Makes you weep for the lack of intelligence.

If COVID-19 forecasting was weather forecasting then Queensland has been locked down since the end of summer for the equivalent of ice-slicks on the roads that could cause lots of road fatalities. Like ice-slicks, COVID-19 is a cold country problem. Our “experts” were as wrong as they could be.
