“Youths left with nothing to do” (CP, 30/05). The death of the young lad in Shang Park is tragic and genuine sympathy is extended to his family. However, to those “furious Mooroobool residents” bemoaning the loss of the Mooroobool Hub and blaming everyone else for their problems, you might like to think about an inspirational old adage: “I used to feel sorry for myself because I had no shoes, until I saw a man with no feet.” Instead of building stumbling blocks, build stepping stones and bridges.

Re: Cats on the prowl. Terry, the reason CRC’s great regulations on keeping cats at home is because they torture and then kill our native wildlife. So if anyone sees a cat out hunting birds and lizards, call CRC.

Terry Walkamin on cats. I have a lot of native trees around my house and the birds come and are good for my mental well being. When my neighbours’ cats come into my yard and kill birds and other wildlife it drives me to depression. In future I will have my camera ready and send photos of trespassing cats to the council. Woz, I would rather CNN and other media expose the excesses and incompetence of Trump than jump into bed with him like Fox News.

Good riddance to Alan Jones. Never anything positive from him and a complete waste of time.

The government’s crazed insistence on volunteer firies having government clearance so that they’re not known paedophiles is bureaucratic madness on steroids (CP, 01/06). How does a firie battling a fire get the opportunity to molest kids? Does every Labor politician and bureaucrat have a Blue Card? If not, why not?

I think we should nickname Warren Entsch as “mirrors” as he is always looking into it.

I’m with the economist who wants the public sector decentralised (CP, 01/06). COVID-19 and work-from-home have decisively shown there’s no need for most public servants to be piled up in Brisbane. If the Brisbane PS staff don’t want to move they can just get private sector jobs. We’ve plenty of locals who’d love cushy, high-paid PS jobs.
