CHAPEL PLAYS KEY ROLE
WE’RE sure we can all agree that this year has been very different.
From events being postponed to participating in an online version of school – 2020 is a year that we will never forget.
In saying that, while things around us are happening in quite an unorthodox way, it’s an amazing privilege to still have the opportunity to host Friday morning chapel services online.
We strongly believe that chapel has a large impact on the lives of the students in our school, which is why we find it so necessary that it is continued in a new format that conforms with current government pandemic restrictions.
Senior students, under the guidance of the college technical team, run the weekly livestreams.
Members of our chapel band first lead an acoustic praise and worship session, after which other year 12 students deliver uplifting and encouraging short messages.
Recently, we were led to speak on the topic of ‘friendships’ in relation to this year’s college theme of ‘relationships’. Friendships are one of the most valuable relationships we can form in life.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 states that “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no-one to help them.”
God actually provides us with many realistic examples of great friends, such as Moses and Aaron, Elijah and Elisha, and Naomi and Ruth.
Through them, He reveals essential friendship qualities that we can find in others.
