School to lower fees as part of overhaul

- CHRIS CALCINO

SCHOOL fees are being reduced and a $16 million capital works plan is scheduled as one of Cairns’s most prestigious private schools rolls out a new business model.

Trinity Anglican School has been developing a restructure plan for the past 18 months and is finally ready to set the ball rolling at the start of the 2021 school year.

Principal Paul Sjogren said there would be a significant reduction in fees to current and prospective parents and carers, without compromising on education or opportunities.

A revamped, more affordable transport service will be added to the school’s 2021 offering as well as a $16 million plan to upgrade and expand school infrastructure over the coming decade.

Further details of those developments will be unveiled over the coming months.

“We are excited to announce these changes, which we know many prospective parents will be thrilled with, as TAS is a school of choice,” Mr Sjogren said.

“Since its establishment in 1983, TAS has not wavered in its commitment to providing students with everything they need to achieve amazing things both now and in their futures.

“This will not change under the new business model.

“In fact, it is our aim to raise the bar even higher as we open the doors to even more fantastic kids who are keen to embrace all the opportunities and the outstanding teaching a TAS education offers.”

The business model has been tailored with the current economic climate and changes to legislation and government funding opportunities in mind – but Mr Sjogren said students would receive the same high level of care and education they had come to expect.

“It is with this end goal in sight that we will see our community continue to grow and flourish,” he said.
