Renewables are cheaper

KENNY, Herberton (CP, 21/06). Yes, renewables are now cheaper than new coal. We won’t need 30 Tesla batteries, reserve power can come from pumped hydro or hydro from Tasmania, backed up by gas if necessary. Electric vehicles will also provide battery storage in the future.

We should also take into account the rising cost of climate change, the loss of coral, rising sea levels, drought, bushfires and floods when we talk about the cost of energy. When everything is taken into account clean energy is far cheaper.
