Focusing on gut health
WALKAMIN entrepreneurs Rob and Krista Watkins have released their latest product – an Australian first that turns unwanted fruit and vegies into a powder designed to improve gut health.
GUTHEALTH+ is the latest creation in their Natural Evolution range and can be used at breakfast, lunch and dinner to “feed trillions of good bacteria” in the gut.
“The scientifically developed formula is vegan, gluten free and free from added sugar, fillers, artificial colours or flavour,” said managing director Krista Watkins.
She said the new product was welcome news for many suffering the debilitating effects of digestion inflammation or disease.
“The gut plays an important role in your overall health by helping to control digestion, strengthening your immune system, managing weight, providing sustained energy and helping to stabilise our mental wellbeing, along with many other aspects of health.
“With a huge push towards plant-based diets, this is an exceptional opportunity for us to deliver an entirely plant-based symbiotic supplement.”
Mr Watkins said it was a “great example of Australian manufacturing at its best”.
“Ninety-five per cent of GUTHEALTH+ is made from fruit and vegetable that would normally be thrown away.”
He said it was made possible by Natural Evolution’s commitment to innovation and product development in circular economies.
“This will be the movement that will sustain and feed the world,” Mr Watkins said.
Each week in North Queensland, some 500 tonnes of green bananas are disposed of because of oversupply or being out of fresh market specification.
