All lives matter
WE have heard the word “racism” used frequently in all forms of media and public protests after the unfortunate death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, US.
I believe all lives mater no matter race, colour, sex, age, or any other social division in our society. I believe racism is a convenient label used to cover a much wider cause of death and abuse of people in society.
It is all too easy for those seeking to inflame the crowd ready to protests to level racism actuations at authorities than any other causes like family violence, drunken or drug induced violence.
I do not defend the behaviour of police violence in the death of anyone but we didn’t see the same level of community outrage after the shooting of a white woman, Justine Damond by a black police officer in Minneapolis in
2017. The riots, burning and pillaging following George Floyd’s unfortunate death were an over-reaction that only made a bad situation worse.
